Seasonal Red Snapper Fishing Trips in Cape Canaveral

While Red Snapper can be kept year-round when caught in Florida's state waters, Federal regulations apply to the waters where Red Snapper live off of Cape Canaveral. This means that we only have the opportunity to only fish for Red Snapper a few days out of the entire year, and we're not exaggerating. The 2025 season was only open for two days.

We initially anticipated that a seasonal window had been granted; however, at 9:30 p.m. on May 21, 2026, NOAA officially announced that the season is now closed.

The planned 39-day Atlantic recreational red snapper season has been temporarily halted following a ruling issued on May 21, 2026, by a federal judge, U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The ruling placed an immediate injunction on the South Atlantic Exempted Fishing Permits (EFPs) that had recently been approved by NOAA Fisheries for Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. As a result, the anticipated recreational red snapper season scheduled to begin on May 22, 2026, has been suspended until further notice.
